I {heart} grass

As I said before, I've learned that grass is one of the most exciting things ever, now that we actually have some! After only two short weeks our landscaping was complete. (I know, crazy! I cannot believe it was finished so quickly.) We left town for a family trip to Boise right after it wash finished, which was good, because we were given strict orders to stay off of the grass. We're back now and still aren't supposed to be on the grass much. We take quick walks on it every so often, though, and we love it! We also love all of our trees, our fences, our cool popsicle-stick gates, and our front yard mulch and bushes. Our yard finally looks and feels complete (for now!), which makes our home feel more complete.  We're grateful for what we have and look forward to enjoying our new outdoor spaces with our kids, friends, and family.

(It only took 2 1/2 days to do the grass. Wow.)

Stream area
(It's hard to tell, but the stream area does look much better than it did.  Tons of bushes and weeds were cleared and we now have a nice walking path as well as a large flat area for a hammock and fire pit. Nick and I also plan to do more in the future but are excited with this for now.)

Landscaping!

We're actually getting a yard and we are so excited!! We met a month or so go with Robert Thompson, owner of Thompson Landscaping, and came up with a plan for Phase 1 of our backyard. (It'll take multiple phases to finish because, holy cow, landscaping is expensive.) Our plans included a fence around about 2/3 of the yard, lots of grass, and 16 trees. It also included adding wood chips and plants to our front yard.

Robert and his huge team of men started working last week and so far everything looks great! Seriously, we love it and we've had a lot of fun watching the backyard (and front) transform. I never knew that a fence or wood chips or grass could be so exciting....but they CAN and they ARE.

We can't wait to have everything finished. It'll look so much nicer than the never ending dirt that we've had up until now. And, more importantly, the backyard will be a fantastic play land for Cole and Maliya. I'm grateful that we're able to do this right now, as I really think the kids will enjoy it. We all will. I can envision lots of family time out in the yard. Yay!
